Secure Home Base for Karen McNeil During Cancer Treatment

What comes to mind when you hear the name Karen McNeil? Perhaps you recall a time where she opened up her home for you, pulled you in for a hug, offered you comfort and support in your low moments, or celebrated you for your wins.

Her magnetic personality draws everyone in, and her laugh - genuine and uninhibited, instantly lifts a room - but beyond that, her warmth and kindness have held a constant truth - that you had a safe place with Karen, or affectionately, Mama G, when you needed it most.

Earlier this year, Karen was diagnosed with cancer.

After months of uncertainty, she received her diagnosis and underwent emergency surgery, and she will soon be going through chemotherapy and radiation.

To receive the best care, Karen has had to relocate temporarily from Sauble Beach to Hamilton. There are very little housing resources for people who are going through treatment far from home, and we want to make sure that Karen has a calming place she can rest after her treatments - a place for her to recover while her immune system is suppressed.
