Amy Riddle Anderton is a hard-working, fun-loving, unbelievably strong woman who has, in what should be
the best years of her life, had her freedom diminished, restricted by Lupus. Along with Lupus, Amy has
developed gastroparesis, a condition which greatly hampers one's ability to swallow and digest food, at times completely disabling the esophagus and stomach. Lupus has robbed Amy of the ability to walk, to eat, and to
move about freely and unassisted.
You see stories about people who remain positive through illness or hardship, but Amy refuses to be anything but upbeat, and handles whatever comes her way with grace and humor. She can't wait to regain her
independence, and hopes to get back to work on a new venture, but to do so, she requires the most basic
human necessity, to be mobile, to be free to move around without depending on a driver, or anyone to help
her in an out of a vehicle.
Being confined to a wheelchair now, and unable to lift herself, it has become necessary for Amy to have a
fully-outfitted accessible van that can accommodate her 400 lb. wheelchair and help her maneuver without
being in danger of falling or sliding. As you can imagine, an accessible van is
extremely expensive, and will cost upwards of $80,000.
We all take our cars and trucks and the simple act of driving for granted, but to Amy, this is a luxury she cannot, at the moment, enjoy. Imagine not being able to get up, walk outside,
and go for a drive in the beautiful area surrounding Nashville . Imagine wanting to work, but not being able to
get anywhere on your own to do so.
Amy works with Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, and she is Prayer Chaplain at her church. Amy is also a Reiki practitioner, and an NSO or Non-Skating Official with the Nashville Junior Roller Derby, and even though she is now restricted to tube feeding, she is Vegan.
There are souls on this Earth who care more for everyone and everything around them than they do for
themselves. Amy Anderton has devoted her life to helping others, and she desperately needs
us to help her continue her work.
Amy and her partner have, so far, been unable to raise the down payment for even the most bare-bones used
van, and this is where we come in. Please help us with the down-payment for Amy's Freedom.
Much love.
