The Blue Shield: Film about systemic violence against women

"The Blue Shield” was born out of conversations I had with two close friends who survived sexual assault while attending college. When they came to me, I encouraged both of them to report what had happened and seek support through the university system. What disturbed me was not only the similarity of their experiences but the similarity of the responses they received afterward. In both cases, it felt as though the institution was more concerned with protecting itself and shielding the perpetrators than supporting the survivors who came forward. Those experiences stayed with me, and they became the emotional foundation of this film. While The Blue Shield is framed as a neo-noir thriller about corruption within a police department, the department itself serves as a metaphor for broader systems of institutional power. Systems that often prioritize reputation, hierarchy, and self-preservation over accountability and justice.

Eve Carter became my way of exploring what it means to exist inside one of those systems while still desperately wanting it to change. In many ways, Eve is a reflection of my own position: someone who understands the comfort and protection institutions can provide, but also recognizes the harm they can perpetuate when silence becomes policy. Her journey is about refusing erasure and choosing truth even when it comes at personal risk. More than anything, I wanted this film to offer survivors a sense of visibility and hope. “The Blue Shield” is not just about exposing corruption; it is about reclaiming agency, believing survivors, and asking what real accountability looks like in spaces built to resist it.
The funds raised will go directly toward the production and post-production of The Blue Shield. This includes renting essential equipment, providing meals for our dedicated cast and crew during our shoot, and hiring talented professionals for editing, sound mixing, and composing. Additional support will help us cover the costs of film festival submissions, ensuring that this important story reaches a wider audience. Your contribution will make a real impact in bringing The Blue Shield to life and supporting a project that seeks to drive meaningful change.
