Synopsis
SECOND SOUND is an aural phenomenon where we can hear certain soundwaves from alternate realities we could have been a part of; realities we wish we were currently living in.
Aoife, a woman plagued by this phenomenon, manages to travel to her alternate reality, in the hopes of writing a wrong in her past.
The Project
Hello!
My name is Joshua Derraji. I am a filmmaker based in London and I am raising production funds for my second short film, SECOND SOUND, which I'll be shooting this summer in England and France.
My most significant work to date is Said In Passing, a short film funded by the British Film Institute and the National Lottery, which I directed, edited and wrote last year.
This new project will be different in many regards, namely in terms of financial means. However, the central ethos of this project is that an engaging art film can be made with readily available tools and does not need to rely on money alone - it only needs creativity and collaboration. Limitations inspire new creative ground!
As the great Jonas Mekas said: “We need less perfect but more free films.”
Our ambitions for SECOND SOUND are threefold:
- To show that creating meaningful, visually engaging cinema is not completely dictated by financial means, and the tools for this kind of cinema are readily available;
- To enter the film into festivals;
- And finally, to provide an opportunity for all involved to try new roles and to freely take what they need from the film, be it experience or new content for showreels and further opportunities!

All funds raised will go directly into:
- Paying actors and voice actors;
