Second Chance sought for Babson

Babson, a larger than life, loveable dog who ended up at the Pima Animal Care Center (PACC), a shelter for unwanted animals in Tucson, Arizona. Babson was rescued by an Animal Protection Officer after he was abandoned and left for dead. Thankfully a Good Samaritan called in to dispatch, to report this big- lug who had been left behind.

Upon arrival to PACC, the medical team determined Babson’s odd gait was due to bilateral cranial cruciate ligament ruptures (like torn ACL’s in humans). Not only is this condition very painful, it can also lead to degenerative joint disease. Babson’s injuries required more specialized treatment than the shelter could offer, so they gave him a lot of medication to keep him comfortable and offered him for a special needs adoption in the hopes someone special would save him. As the months wore on, volunteers and staff alike fell in love with Babson and his loving demeanor and inextinguishable spirit, unfortunately though, Babson’s tremendous medical needs discouraged any interested adopters. With five months spent in the shelter quickly approaching, day- after- day in a kennel, and medication after medication being given, staff knew that Babson would require more if he was to truly have a second go at life.

Here’s where things got interesting, donors of Friends of PACC generously offered to help pave the way for this big beloved dog to heal. They provided an initial sponsorship for his first surgery on the first leg. Babson still needs support to raise the funds needed for the second surgery to his other leg. Babson will never live to old age, run, or play without the help of surgery by a specialist. Unless he has the second surgery he needs, he’ll be restricted to little activity, and continue to live a pained existence.

Please consider helping Babson by raising the funds needed to pay for the specialized surgery he desperately needs. Any funds raised above what is needed for Babson will be donated to other animals in need at Pima Animal Care Center who require specialized care. Thank you for your compassion, your love and support, in contributing towards Babson’s second chance at life.
