Second chance at life for Jaimie
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jaimie. I’m 35 years old and have been living with type 1 diabetes since I was just 9 years old. Over the 25 years and most recent , I’ve faced many serious complications—uincluding loss of vision in my left eye, neuropathy in my legs and feet, and now, stage 4 kidney failure. I am currently on dialysis three days a week for four hours at a time. It leaves me exhausted, with extremely low blood pressure, and constant nausea that makes even simple tasks feel overwhelming and body pain and multiple surgeries. Having what seems like a normal life is difficult.
I’m on the waiting list at University of Miami for a life-saving double kidney and pancreas transplant. This transplant would truly be a second chance at life—something I pray for every single day.
- Because of my health, I haven’t been able to work for the past 3 years. It’s been incredibly difficult trying to support myself through these rough times. I’m opening this page to ask for help with basic everyday expenses, medications that my insurance doesn’t cover, and transportation to and from the many medical appointments I have each week.as well as the expenses that come with having a double transplant
I also hope to get a puppy—a sweet companion to bring me comfort and help lift my spirits during these long, hard days. I think this is a good time for me in my journey and healing to have a furry emotional support friend and need help with the support and care that comes with this responsibility.
If you’re able to help in any way, whether through a donation or simply by sharing my story, it would mean the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and for being part of my journey toward healing and hope.
With love,
Jaimie
