Who is this young man?
This is my nephew Sebastian, a precious, unique young man who stoically deals with the daily challenges of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. His wheel chair is his only way of getting around. One of the biggest challenges is accessibility and the costs involved in trying to have him experience life as an everyday teenager.
Why do we need your help?
Even with some limited financial aide, it still remains difficult to provide him with the resources that will allow him to do the basic things that all kids want to do such as riding a bike. This is why I ask you to help us give him a bike so that he can enjoy the outdoors with some independance, mobilty and the company of other young people his age. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a disease that affects the muscles so it is essential that Sebastian be as active as he can and have as many life experiences as possible.
What are the costs?
The bike that we are hoping to purchase costs $6,000.00. Not so much one might think but if we consider the other costs his parents, Rose & Rob have recently incurred and will soon have (an accessible van, 2 lifts, hospital bed) then we can understand that it becomes a financial challenge.
