Hi, my name is Betty Carter and my 4-pound Brussels Griffon, Sebastian, was viciously attacked by a adult Pit Bull on April 21, 2022. I was at my son's pole vault practice, and I let Sebastian out to use the bathroom. I looked up and noticed a man and his pit bull were nearby. The dog had a leash on, but the owner was not holding the leash. Once the man saw Sebastian and me, he called the dog, but the dog charged toward Sebastian. I hurried and picked up Sebastian, but the dog still ran towards us and jumped up to my chest to attack him. Sebastian was viciously attacked for more than 10 minutes while four other people tried to free Sebastian from the grip he had on him. Finally, after 15 minutes of being attacked, Sebastian was released. Sebastian was severely injured, I was scratched and sore, and another lady suffered from a bite and torn ligaments in her finger. After rushing Sebation to the Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC, he was seen for bite wounds, including a fractured mandible (jaw fracture) and missing incisors (missing teeth). Sebastian received sutures and was heavily medicated to control his pain. After further observation, Sebastian required surgery on his fractured jaw and extensive rest to heal. We are in need of help to assist with the extensive medical bills for Sebastian's initial emergency visit and for his surgery on April 25, 2022. During his surgery, Sebastian's jaw was wired to correct the fracture. Still, they also found that the Pit Bull completely punctured his tongue, had several missing teeth, and required additional stitches behind his eye, throat, and mouth. We are deeply saddened and hurt to see our baby boy suffer and would greatly appreciate any help you can give towards his medical bills during this difficult time. Thank you.
