We are the parents of 2 special needs children, who both have service dog puppies in training. We've been evicted from traditional housing and are living in an RV with plans to move to Hawaii. We were working on our RV yesterday, trying to remove a non-working refrigerator and the dogs escaped from the RV. Before we could catch them, Sebastian's service dog was hit by a vehicle and the vehicle took off. His dog, Zoey, who is only 7 months old, has a severely fractured tibia and fibula (tib/fib), broken into 3 pieces. The attempt to fix it with pins and plates is possible for around $10,000, but it would be a multi step process for permanent healing and potentially more traumatic for Zoey. The other option, possibly more humane, is to amputate the leg for around $4,000 to $5,000. We currently have a very limited income due to my husband's long covid, and my worker's compensation injury (TBI), we only have money that we get for selling our belongings and what my in-laws can contribute from their social security and pension limited income. We had to pay $1,259 to have her seen after hours at an animal hospital for evaluation.

Zoey and Sebastian have a very close bond already. Zoey sleeps with him and wants to go everywhere with him. She listens to his commands and is already sensitive to his needs. Sebastian has already lost his first service dog, so this is very emotional for him.

Zoey is a healthy dog and has been up to date with vet visits. She is chipped. She has a strong personality and heals small wounds quickly.

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
