** An update has been posted below.
David had a major five-hour surgery on November 7, 2022. He was hospitalized for five days after the surgery. He was not able to go back to work for a week after he was released from the hospital. On December 25, we were celebrating Christmas with our family. As soon as our family left, David told me that he needed to go to the hospital that he was in horrific pain. We spent most of the night in the ER. He was admitted to the hospital in the early morning of December 26th. The doctors ran numerous tests trying to figure out what was causing the pain. They discovered that he has gallstones that were blocking a bile duct. Doctors wanted to take out his gallbladder but knew David could not survive another surgery at that time. The doctors decided to put a drain into the gallbladder to see if that would help move the gallstone from the bile duct. They did get the drain in, and a bag was attached to the outside of his body for the drainage. Then his pancreas became inflamed. This caused severe pain. During this time, David developed a blood infection and had to have intravenous antibiotics to fight the infection. After all of this, we received great news…..David was going to be released from the hospital. Then David started running fevers again. Labs from the liver and pancreas were not good. So, the doctors started antibiotics again. His pain levels increased as well. Doctors talked again about taking the gallbladder out but decided again that David’s body could not handle the surgery. As of February 7, 2023, David has been in the hospital for 44 days. There is talk that he might be able to come home in the near future. This is very exciting for our family. We have missed him so much. According to the doctors, when he comes home, he will have Home Health Care. This will include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and a feeding tube. This sounds like a lot, and it is, but we will be so thankful to have him home and our family complete again. We are very grateful for every prayer that has been prayed on David’s behalf. This has been the hardest journey we have ever traveled, but we know that God has carried us through every step.
David has a long road ahead of him and will continue to be out of work for the foreseeable future, especially since they will need to remove his gallbladder as soon as his body heals. This has been a very difficult season in their life and any prayer and/or financial support would be appreciated.
***Update on David
It has been a while since I have posted an update on David. He had a major surgery on July 10. That surgery lasted about 8 hours. He immediately went to ICU and remained there for the past 12 days. In those 12 days, he has had 13 blood transfusions. His doctor had to reopened his incision due to infection. My sweetheart has suffered so much since December. We are thankful for all of the prayers that have been prayed on his behalf. We are thankful for the cards, text messages, and phone calls. Wednesday, we will celebrate his 54th birthday at the hospital, but we are very thankful that we are able to celebrate our Superman. Please continue to pray for David recovery. We are ready for him to come home.
