Search efforts for missing hiker Daniel Komins

Daniel Komins has been missing since Sunday August 11, the day of his last reported contact. Daniel began a 5 day solo backpacking trip in the Trinity Alps on Saturday August 10 with the intention of returning to his vehicle on Wednesday August 14. Daniel made contact with his family the night of August 11 from his GPS device when he was at his campsite.  We do not know if he got injured or if he got lost.

Search efforts began on Thursday August 14 and are continuing until further notice. Daniel is an experienced hiker and the family is holding hope that he got lost and faith that he otherwise has the ability to survive.

The search is being coordinated by Trinity County Sheriff, Trinity County Search and Rescue, CHP. Money collected from this GoFundMe is intended for any volunteer support such as food and supplies for the search team.
