Help a Single Mother Avoid Eviction

Donation protected
I am a single mother in St. Mary’s County. I have been living in my apartment for the past five years after leaving a very bad relationship. It took everything in my power to leave, and I finally left. This apartment has been my safe place, and even though I’ve had to work seven days a week to get by to keep this roof over our head, it has been well worth it.

I’ve currently been without a job (I do work when I have transportation, which is limited) and I’ve been without a vehicle since last year due to people whom I’ve trusted taking advantage of me. I’m not one to ask for handouts or to ask for people’s pity, and I wish I would’ve asked for help sooner. However, I’ve tried to handle this myself because I’m a very independent person, but now I don’t have a choice. I am currently facing eviction due to being several months behind on rent. I have been to our local social services and made plenty of phone calls to resources that people have told me about, with no prevail. I am at a loss right now. I don’t know what else to do besides this.

I’ve been told by several people to do this over the past few months, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. And now I have no choice. The amount asked for includes my rent and late fees, utilities, and hoping to have some extra to maybe buy a car so I can get back to working seven days a week. All donations are greatly, greatly appreciated. I wish I had people to turn to, but I don’t, so I am hoping that the community will help me. Please note that I’m remaining anonymous due to family issues, however, I will be letting a handful of trusted friends know that it’s me, and they will be the ones to share and to validate this fundraiser without giving my name or my child’s names And please send prayers to my child and myself; we will need them.

UPDATE: I wanted to let everyone know an update, yesterday I had court, and the case ended up being dismissed due to my landlord not taking the proper channels before filing the court case. This does buy me some time which is what I need so that I can possibly get more donations as well as getting things straight through social services and other resources that I have been made aware of. ALSO IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY RESOURCES OR SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP ME NAVIGATE SOCIAL SERVICES, PLEASE REACH OUT BECAUSE I AM AT A LOSS WITH CONSTANTLY BEING DENIED AND BEING TOLD BY OTHER PEOPLE THAT THERE’S NO WAY I SHOULD BE DENIED.

***PLEASE READ: when I first set up this GoFundMe I set a goal of $8,500 and knew I may need to make it more as I go only because I am trying to find a decent working vehicle for not that much money. GoFundMe adjusted the amount for some reason they state that it makes it look more attainable. I’m able to turn off their recommended amount. I just don’t want anyone to think that I’m being greedy or anything like that as I truly set it up initially for what I consider exactly what I needed Which was the 8500 so you will see the amount change and that’s because I’m turning off their recommended amount.x Purchasing a vehicle is very important as keeping a roof over my head so I can start providing for myself and my child again. And please know that we thank each and every person for every single donation no matter the amount and we appreciate all the prayers that have been sent our way. I know it’s not easy to donate to someone you don’t know, but I hope you can find it in your heart to just understand that it is crucial that I remain anonymous. Again thank you so much and God bless each and everyone of you!! ❤️
