Seán’s Marathon for DEBRA Ireland
Hi everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I started running just after the marathon last year inspired by others completing the physical feat. I ran 5km each day of November and I thought of fund raising but wanted to do it for myself then. Over the year I’ve built myself up and feel my efforts would now be worth some donations from my generous friends and family please. I also want to take this opportunity to thank all those offered kind and helpful advice along my own fitness journey.
The hope of persevering with resilience is what a marathon means to me and in hopefully doing so I would like to raise some money for a good cause. I have no personal ties to Debra Ireland other than I recall learning about the condition Epidermolysis Bullosa in college and thinking it was terribly difficult for affected families. It is a painful blistering life limiting condition. The words paediatric and palliative shouldn’t be uttered in the same sentence but for parents of babies and children with epidermolysis bullosa they unfortunately become acquainted with these terms.
I hope to raise some funds, any little you have to spare for an incredibly good cause. As a paediatric trainee it has been a privilege to tend to babies and their families yet I still can’t imagine the despair of parents to those with this condition. For them and their babies each day and every moment is a marathon that requires resilience, perseverance, and above all hope.
Please see below the message from DEBRA Ireland.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of DEBRA Ireland and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
