Sean's Journey to Recovery & Health

Hi everyone. Thank you for clicking on the link and coming here to see what we are trying to achieve.
As some of you may already know, our dear friend and/or relative, Sean Bastarache, was admitted to CCU Moncton City Hospital on February 8, 2017 with "Infected Endocarditis" caused by Sstaphylococus Aureus. A deadly growth of bacteria which has vegetated on his tricuspid valve, right chamber making him very, very sick.
He was immediately put on powerful antibiotics through IV to try to kill the infection. After 6 days at MCH, Sean took a turn for the worse. A piece of the vegetation had broken off and, travelled to his lungs. Oxygen was "a must"! It was at that time a decision was made to transport him to Saint John Regional Hospital, CCU.
Test after test revealed that the vegetation was destroying Sean's tricuspid valve and, he would need to have open heart surgery to have it replaced. His heart needed to be working better in order for him to fight the infection.
The surgery took place on Friday morning Feb. 17th and, was a success however, Sean is still in critical condition. He is septic and very swollen. They are still trying to find the right combination of antibiotics to kill this deadly bacteria. He will be in hospital for approximately 4 weeks, doctors are saying. Two of those weeks will be spent in Intensive Care, depending on how Sean is doing.
With that being said, a situation like this can take a toll on the family. Not only mentally but, financially as well. Eileen, Sean's Mom, has been by his side as much as possible but, she needs help.
We started this GoFundMe page to help Sean and his family to offset some of the expenses that they're dealing with now (travel, loss of wages, hotel stays, meals, etc) to help out financially while Sean is fighting for his life. He also has a 4 year old daughter, Emmary, who lives out of province and would love to come see her daddy.
Your donations will also help bring Emmary and her mommy here to be by his side to give Sean all the love and support he desperately needs at this difficult time. Lastly, Sean will need clothes and other bare necessities once he is out of hospital.
Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and donations. It means so much to all of the Bastarache family.
