Sean's Certification & Graduation Expenses

Donation protected
Hello!

As most of you know, I have been working towards earning my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education Interdisciplinary Studies since the fall of 2019. I have been blessed to learn and experience so much within the time that has passed since then, and am excited to share that my degree was officially conferred on February 7th of 2024.

Now that I have my degree, I am eager to put it to use. And, while I hate asking for money and know I have already taken more than I deserve from those generous enough to help me as I have struggled to get on my feet in South Carolina, the fact remains that there are some significant expenses ahead on the path to teaching this fall.

Because the state of Michigan would not have accepted Virginia's licensure through Liberty, I began college with the understanding that I would need to seek an alternative certification program. However, at the time I had no plans to move to SC, where the Virginia licensure would have been accepted. Unfortunately, this means I am not currently certified to teach. I have been accepted into the Teachers of Tomorrow program and offered enrollment, but the enrollment fee is sizable. Once enrolled, I will also need to take my Praxis exam - another expense. The good news, though, is that once enrolled I will be able to accept a full-time teaching position while completing coursework to earn my certification.

In addition, my graduation is on Saturday, May 11. I plan to drive up to Lynchburg and attend, but my regalia is another expense.

Your support in this fundraiser will help cover the $395 admission fee to Teachers of Tomorrow, the $200 Praxis test, and the $100 cost of regalia. This adds up to just under $700 ($695 total), but I am asking for $750 in the event there are any hidden/unexpected fees, taxes, or other costs. Any funds raised in addition to this amount will strictly be used to help with bills, groceries, and living expenses.

I sincerely thank you for your support, and, if you are unable to give financially, please do not stress - I am right there with you! I understand times are hard right now, and would hate to pressure anyone into giving to me. If you do feel led to give, I cannot emphasize enough just how much your support means to me. This has been a long journey and the path has often not been smooth. Trust me when I say that ANY support you can offer, whether it be a prayer or a share on Facebook, means the world to me and is not taken for granted. I have been blessed to be surrounded by so many who love and care about me, even though I sometimes get stressed or disheartened and do not recognize it in the moment.

You are amazing, and I am eager to see what comes next.

Thank you again,
Sean
