A couple of weeks ago, Sean ended up in the emergency room due to what we think was a spider bite. It turned into a nasty ordeal, and after 3 trips to the Orange Park Medical Center, we went to Baptist South when he started to cough up blood.
At Baptist South they did xrays and a CT Scan. On the CT scan they discovered a mass on his right lung. The doctor was adamant that we should not ignore this and have it biopsied.
First we went to Shands. Not only were they incredibly rude to him, they were unwilling to help because he could not provide proof of income from the pub he worked at. Then we went to St. Vincents, who told us they could not help because he was not diagnosed there.
Then, we tried to contact Baptist again, only for them to tell us to try to talk to his Primary Care Doctor to see if he had any options.
His primary care doctor visits cost us $100+ every time we go in. Sean has been out of work for a few weeks, due to him feeling very unwell, and right now we're surviving on a single, very limited income.
We tried to sign him up for health insurance via the marketplace, but since it is outside of open enrollment, he was turned away, and was also told that he was not eligible for Medicaid. Right now we're at a loss.
Shands informed him that up front cost for a biopsy would be around 5k, so that's our goal right now. At the moment we don't even know what this mass is and it's scary. I don't want to pressure anyone to donate, but if you can help in any way, or if you have any suggestions, they would be much appreciated. Thank you.
