Sean battling Glioblastoma
Beschermde donatie
On May 19th our mutual friend, local business owner and community member Gary Sean O’Neill was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (brain cancer) after experiencing memory loss. He was taken to Olympic Medical Center with stroke like symptoms and a scan was done of his brain, showing a large butterfly shaped mass spanning both sides. He was transferred that night to Swedish in Seattle to meet with a Neurosurgeon team. Ultimately 2 brain biopsy were done confirming a more severe stage of Glioblastoma that was/is non operable due to its location. A plan was put into place to begin radiation and chemotherapy. This first round of therapy will go through Aug 1 where further scans and tests will be done to determine the next phase of treatment and if he might qualify for clinical trials.
Sean is 57 years old. He’s owned Peninsula Taproom in Sequim for nearly 6 years. Prior to opening Peninsula Taproom, he was a Beer Ambassador for Lagunitas beer where he helped get Lagunitas beer into countless bars, entertained customers and immersed himself in the industry.
Sean also founded and ran a very successful mountain bike shop in Moab, UT for 10 years that is still open today. He ran guided bike tours and honed his skills and knowledge in the industry.
Sean believes that you surround yourself with good people and you support small businesses in your community. He lives every day of his life this way. You’ll often see him at local businesses in town because he believes if he’s able, that’s how it should be done. You support your community and those that work hard in it.
We are using this GoFundMe platform to help spread the word about Sean and his diagnosis. We will use the funds raised to cover medical costs and personal costs.
We will also be holding a Block Party Bash on Saturday July 29th from 12-9p in the parking lot of Peninsula Taproom along with Salty Girls and Tedesco’s. There will be a live band, numerous opportunities to support, and the debut of the specially brewed “Who’s Gary” beer from Barhop. Please join us if you’re able. Sean says “There are 2 kinds of days, Good Days & Great Days.” This will be a great day.
Thank you for your support!
