Sean Estes and family

I’d like to first thank everyone for following along and supporting the Estes family as they navigate Sean’s scary and uncertain cancer diagnosis. Sean started his Stage 4 Cancer Journey page to share the ups and downs of this devastating disease, giving us a glimpse of the hardship, hope and heroism that is born from a family that loves as fiercely as they fight. He wanted to give himself an outlet to vent; to try to make sense of what is so tragically senseless, and in the midst of such a terrifying experience, to give him and Brandi a sense of connection and hope through the shared community this group has cultivated.
Unfortunately, those of us who have been following along with this journey know the Estes family just received the hardest news yet. The chemo Sean has been receiving is no longer effective. Scans show that Sean’s tumors are also not responding to previous treatments. The pain is constant and the side effects increase by the day. Doctors have exhausted all options except for a clinical trial. But through it all, Sean remains an inspiration with optimism and strong will.
He and his family are still fighting, but Sean is in constant pain. With the pain spreading across more of his body, and fatigue also a constant companion, it was decided that he take medical leave from the job he loves so much. Stretching the sole income for the household is no easy task. Luckily, the costs of this clinical trial he is about to start is covered through the trial itself, but there’s additional travel, extra appointments, and traditional bills (which never just go away).
Those of us that love Sean have decided to start this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial burden and allow his family to focus their energy on what’s really important. Please consider donating to this amazing family. Sean reminds us that time is precious and to live each day with a smile on your face, love in your heart, and with nothing left unsaid. Cancer has tried to knock him down and he has fought with humor, love, and our support. That support is more important each day. In his darkest hour, a reminder that he is constantly in our thoughts could be the support he needs to persevere.
If you are not able to give a monetary gift, please consider sending a virtual hug to Sean or Brandi. Or provide a favorite meal for the family. Or send some uplifting and encouraging words their way. Any way to show your love and support of this amazing family that has shown us how strong and determined they are. For Sean, who has already overcome so much and is still fighting as our MVP. If Sean doesn’t quit, then we don’t quit!! Please help this family by showing your love and support for Sean through his truly inspirational fight.
We love you, Estes family!
