Sean Davis Recovery & Support Fund
On the night of June 30th, I came home to Sean laying on the couch in pain. He has experienced pretty bad stomach pain a handful of times in our years together, but it always went away overnight and he wrote them off as kidney stones or anxiety around traveling. But this was different. The pain was much worse-he was vomiting and said he was burning up-but his skin was cold to the touch and was drenched in sweat.
Sean was going into shock because his body was shutting down.
He has been alone in the Progressive Care Unit (a step below ICU) at New Hanover Regional Medical Center since Monday night, and we aren't sure when he'll be out. He's been diagnosed with Severe Acute Pancreatitis-a potentially life-threatening condition usually brought on by alcoholism or gallstones, neither of which Sean has a history of. We're not sure what is causing this (many people never find out), or how long he will be sick- but he's been fighting like hell and is ready to come home.
His condition has been progressing over the week, but he's still really sick and will likely spend many more days in the hospital. We're anticipating a devastating bill when he's on the other side of this.
Sean is the hardest working person I know and is dedicated to always becoming a better version of the man he was yesterday. He is kind, brilliant, compassionate, understanding, wise beyond his years, and so damn funny. He loves his family more than anything, tucks our dog Ollie into bed every night, earns only A's in his Welding Program at Cape Fear, and is really proud of his credit score.
He is the absolute love of my life and has done more for me than I could ever put into words. He's a Navy Veteran and has done more for this country than most people can claim. He's a Brother to five siblings who think the world of him.
Sean is going through hell right now, and the last thing he needs after this is to worry about hospital bills once he's home. Whether or not you know Sean personally- I promise you there's not a more deserving person of financial help right now.
We are so grateful for any donations, prayers, well wishes & good thoughts sent our way.
