The Syncopating Sea Monkeys are a special group of jazz musicians based out of River City High School in West Sacramento, CA. Led by an amazing teacher and musician, Felicia Weatherly, this group is much more like a family than a band. So much so that many alumni have come back to play with this group over Mrs. Weatherly's 20 year tenure as a teacher.
Once a Sea Monkey, always a Sea Monkey.
For the 20th anniversary of this program, we have a stellar opportunity for these young adults if we can make it happen. What kid wouldn't want stories of playing in their band in the French Quarter, and quite possibly even Preservation Hall? The opportunity is out there for us to get our kids to NOLA this spring. We just need to raise money to help with airfare costs. If that means we are camping out and eating PB&J’s - we will do it.
Our young adults are doing bake sales, jazz performances, and just about every fundraiser we can think of on top of their full high school schedules to make this once in a lifetime opportunity happen. We'd be so thankful if you can help us experience the home of jazz as a group and make our mark in history.
Help us put our name on the wall at Cafe Napoleon - "The Sea Monkeys were here - 2017".
