Seaford Salts & Sailing Club Defibrillator Parts
In 2016, 9th of September, Tom Bovington sadly passed away aged just 29 due to an unknown heart condition. Tom's Mum Jane came up with a brilliant suggestion and one that Tom would whole heartedly approve of; to raise money to purchase a defibrillator to be located somewhere public where it may be needed.
It was felt they would be ideally and suitably placed at Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club and Salts recreation ground providing a chance to anyone who may need it on the beach, the prom, tide mills and of course the sailing club.
This was gratefully achieved, 2 x defibrillators, protective cabernets including accessories were installed and have been active and available for the last 5 years.
These are public access defibrillators located on the outside of the Seaford Sailing Club and Salts recreation ground (on wall of Seaford Lifeguards garage), and the locations are known to the ambulance service. Should you call 999 and need one they can quickly and easily direct you to it.
Unfortunately the batteries which power the portable defibrillators when used and on standby don't last forever. Similarly, defibrillator electrodes pads are one use only and also have a use-by date. All of which need urgent replacement. Spares are also required to replace parts if used to help save a life.
£1500 will cover the purchase of the new defibrillator batteries including spare, defibrillator replacement electrodes pads with spare and new locks due to corrosion from salt water/air for both locations.
You can make a difference by donating to Seaford Lifeguards today who will be organising the purchase and distribution of the items to bring these defibrillators back to working order and therefore ready to continue saving lives.
We hope that this continues to be a small gesture of remembrance will again continue to save lives.
