Assist with a Proper Farewell

This is very hard for me to do, but I am running out of options. In Oct 2022, I found out that my dad had Chronic Kidney Failure. Then in Nov 2022, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He began dialysis in Dec 2022, just that fast.

Since then, I’ve been a very active part of his life, taking over his medical care, going to his appointments, leaving work due to an episode, etc. Because of this, my leave balances became drained, and I was unable to work overtime.

On April 8, 2025, my dad was taken to the emergency room due to a staph infection, and he stayed there for over a month… and so did I. I used all of my leave, and every day after that was unpaid. They found out that his aortic valve was leaking, and he was not a candidate for surgery. He wanted to come home, so we brought him home on hospice.

On May 27, my dad took his last breath. Not a day later, family dynamics changed, and it appears that I am going to be the one paying for his cremation and service (date TBD). Due to his Alzheimer’s, he stopped paying into his life insurance and I couldn’t get him approved for anything else due to his condition. I also need to make sure his affairs are in order while trying to figure out a way to pay my mortgage this month.

If you know me, I don’t ask for help, but I was willing to sacrifice my time for my dad, and I’m willing to sacrifice my pride. I thank you for anything you feel led to give.
