SDWD Holiday Bags 2018
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Taylor Ward and I am a chemistry and engineering teacher at Wisconsin Dells High School. For those of you that didn't know, the School District of Wisconsin Dells is a Title I school district, which means our school district contains a large percentage of students at or below poverty. For the district as a whole, about 50% of our students fall into this category. Our district also receives funding from the state to help feed breakfast and lunch to these students each day.
With the holidays coming soon we are asking for your help again in providing EACH AND EVERY SDWD student with a "goodie bag" of sorts to use over Winter Break. Last year these goodie bags included: bread, peanut butter, cereal, spaghetti and pasta sauce, mac and cheese, canned ravioli, rice, canned soup, small bags of chips, crackers, cookies, or pretzels, chapstick, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, gloves or mittens, hats, gift cards to local restaurants, and candy/treats. Only about 260 students at WDHS received these bags, but were very grateful for the items they received.
This year we are taking on the challenge of providing each and every student with a Holiday Break bag in order to insure each student has food to eat over Winter Break. This is almost 2,000 students in the Pre K-12th grade. Many of our SDWD students rely on going to school each day for their breakfast and lunch and with a week off of school those meals aren’t guaranteed.
Our goal is to spend $20/ child on food, personal hygiene items, and winter gloves/hats. If you would like to donate money, which will be used in the months of November and December to purchase items from the goodie bags checks can be mailed directly to the Wisconsin Dells High School (address provided below) and written out to the School District of Wisconsin Dells (SDWD). You can also donate on this Go Fund Me page. Since this donation goes directly to children in our school district, it is fully tax deductible. Once donation is received, our Tax Form will be mailed to you.
Please consider sponsoring at least a child or two. We need the support of the community in helping these students out. Please consider making a donation to our cause, however small or big!! Anything helps and the students at WDHS will greatly appreciate it.
WDHS Address:
520 Race Street, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965
Thank you so much for you time,
Taylor Ward
