Hi everyone,

This is incredibly hard for me to write because my mom is one of the most loving people I know, and asking for help is something she would never choose to do on her own.

A few days ago, she suffered a serious accident and broke her wrist. Because of the severity of the break, she needs surgery this Tuesday, and her doctors have told her she will likely be out of work for 6–8 weeks while she heals.

My mom works in the deli at Publix, and she has always been someone who shows up, works hard, and takes care of everyone around her. She’s the kind of person who helps others without hesitation and never complains, even when things are hard.

But right now, she’s facing something that none of us expected.

Between the medical bills from the ER, the upcoming surgery, and the recovery time where she won’t be able to work, things are already becoming overwhelming. On top of that, she was already trying to stay afloat with existing medical expenses and credit card bills, and missing work has pushed her bank account into the negative.

Watching someone who has worked so hard her entire life suddenly feel scared about how she’s going to make it through the next couple of months is heartbreaking.

My goal with this fundraiser is simply to help her catch her breath while she heals.
