Stand with Sophie in her fight against cancer

I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my niece, Sophie. Sophie is 11 years old and has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

What began as a small bump on Sophie’s scalp and a routine visit to the dermatologist became something we never could have imagined. In August 2024, our beloved Sophie was diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine tumor that has metastasized from her pancreas to her lymph nodes, liver, and the spot on her head.

Sophie has always been a loving, resilient, and incredibly kind-hearted girl who adores animals and never shies away from a challenge. But seeing her face this journey has been heart-wrenching for all of us. Neuroendocrine tumors are uncommon even in adults; in children, they’re almost unheard of. Because of the rarity of this diagnosis, Sophie’s treatment plan has had to rely on adult protocols adjusted to child-sized doses.

We don’t yet know how long Sophie will need to continue chemotherapy or what other treatments we may pursue in the future. Options like clinical trials, specialist consultations, second opinions, and frequent travel for medical appointments could all be part of her journey as we fight to ensure Sophie has every chance at a healthy future.

We are committed to fighting alongside her, but we can’t do it alone.
