Save SoHo Dance LA & The Dance Community

Because of COVID -19 and in compliance with Stay-At-Home order, SoHo Dance LA is struggling – like many businesses and people.  The owner, Raul Santiago, would never think about asking for this help – because he is the one who has always been there when others were in need. Now, it’s our desire to return the favor and fundraise for SoHo Dance LA!   As many patrons have expressed a desire to raise money to help cover both studio overhead costs (rent) during the Stay-At-Home mandate, we, the students, have opened a SoHo Dance LA GoFundMe page to Save SoHo Dance LA. Raul is the person who takes action to bring help to others in times of crisis. He put on a fundraiser in conjunction with Chef Jose Andres’ World Kitchen to help feed all the people in Puerto Rico affected by the hurricane.  He has held yearly Toy Drives during the Holidays for kids to know they are loved.  He engineered fundraisers to help teachers and staff who found themselves in a crisis fighting for their lives, and the list goes on longer than any of us know.  Raul has kept his staff and teachers employed and moved classes online during the Stay-At-Home Order. However, we know this only helps to a limited extent. Raul believes in community and being in service to others.  That is what makes this studio and all his teachers and staff so special and like no other….they are in service and loving support of anyone who walks in the door. For those of us lucky enough to have found SoHo Dance LA, the two studios have been a place to connect with wonderful, happy, kind, and interesting people; to learn and above all dance our way to health and wellness.  A place to heal, a place to grow beyond our limits, a loving place to make good friends – it is our other home.   We must all make sure that when this is over, we don’t just return to our life, but have a way to live a better, happier, healthier life–together.  This is why SoHo Dance LA must survive – because we must be able to go back to our life and thrive!  The students of SoHo Dance LA are asking for your support, whatever it may be, even if it is simply spreading the word, to save this healing space and a group of people who dedicate their lives to bringing positive change to others every day.
