Grey Panther Memorial Cat Fund

I’ve spent over $250,000 feeding feral cats in the past 20 years. All abandoned, and then neutered/spayed, cared for and fed by myself completely out of pocket.

I’m not a rescue organization, I’ve done all of this while working in restaurants, bars, art schools.

******♥️update April 2025: Hi everyone, I am reopening this page because I have a crucial situation with a cat who can barely breathe out of his nose at all. I already spent $300 on him in February and the antibiotic seemed to work, but his symptoms came back. So I need to take him back to another appointment and get some other diagnosis and medication (antibiotics) because he’s losing weight and obviously in extreme discomfort.

There’s also two elderly cats who have an upper respiratory issue, they’re covered in motor oil from sitting under cars, their fur is matted with smelly drool because of some type of mouth issue they both have. I give them very soft food because that’s what they can eat. The female allowed me to bathe her, but just her head and shoulders. She’s extremely frail and constantly has discharge from her nose and mouth. I am probably looking at end of life care for her because I don’t think she could survive even if she was given medication at this point. Her brother is a little bit better off and could possibly just need medication to stabilize him.

Another older one showed up, I have no idea where this cat came from but he also seems to have a mouth issue and can only eat soft foods. He’s extremely friendly and allows me to pet him. I simply don’t have the funds to take him anywhere to get seen.

The previous money of $2077 raised was completely used in 2023/2024. (You can scroll down to see the dates of the last donations.) So I’m reopening this page instead of creating a whole new page.

FEB 2023:

The last remaining rescue cat from the initial group of 23 is my Grey Panther and he’s on his 9th life now.

He’s 19 years old and like my child / best friend at this point. I’ve been caring for him since 2005. At first I couldn’t touch him but he became a loving “real cat” a few years in. I spent $1000 getting him dental work when his teeth were falling out years ago. He’s lived very well since but in the last few months has really gone into decline.

I’ve only asked for help like this one other time. Right now I’m spending $500 a month just on cat food (more than my food) for a group of cats who were left behind where I live. One person left and simply moved their cat’s bowl over to my side of the yard, telling me they can’t take the cat and cannot give me money for it’s care, saying “I don’t care if they die”..

People like me are the ones who absorb the abandoned animals when others leave them behind. The medical and dental, food, supplies.. and emotional journey.. all takes it’s toll.

If everyone donates a little it would quickly add up. I really don’t know how I’m going to make the near future happen without help. I feel bad asking, but I’ve basically been a “rescue” out of my own pocket for 20 years.
