Ryan's New Bike Trailer

Donation protected
My name is Michelle, and I am this amazing boys mom.  Ryan was born with Klippel Feil Syndrome and has many bone adnormalities in his back and neck (fused vertebrae and partial vertebrae).   This amazing boy has been through a lot in his life - he has had two tethered cord release surgeries where one of them caused damage to his bladder and bowels.  When he was first diagnosed we were told he would never crawl and he crawled at the age of 2; then they said he would never walk on his own without his walker but he started walking when he was 4 yrs old - he was in physical therapy for 5 years.    When was 5 yrs old he was diagnosed as being Autistic and he is also developmentally delayed.

Even with all these struggles he is a very happy young man who is now 12 years old.  He uses a wheelchair for long walks and can't ride a bike because he doesn't have good balance or the leg strength to pedal on his own.  Sometime this year he will have a major back surgery to correct his scoliosis (currently wears a back brace and has been since  about 2009) where they will fuse his vertebrae and put rods in.  He also has one leg shorter than the other making things difficult to ride or pedal.  He even has a hard time with steps and balance on them.  We currently live in a two story house and eventually we would also like to get into a ranch house so he can have more freedoms in our home.

We, as a family of four, cannot go bike riding because we do not have the equipment for Ryan to ride in.  Ryan out grew the toddler trailer a few years ago and since then hasn't been able to go on rides with the family.  We are wanting to raise money so we can get the bicycle attachment/trailer for a child his size that he can use now and in the future.

Pictured here is the item we are trying to raise funds for.  We don't want Ryan to be left out of adventures and the outdoors.  We as a family have skipped bike riding so he didn't feel left out but this would allow us to have family outings on the trails.

I cannot offer any type of reward for your support but I can give a picture of him riding the bike trailer and his big smile will be able to tell everybody thank you!
