SD Dream Coalition's News for You!

We dream of a state where everyone has access to local news in their language. Currently the news in South Dakota is only available in English. There are no local news outlets for South Dakota’s growing multilingual community, therefore multilingual communities do not turn to local news outlets.

The SD Dream Coalition, a coalition of immigrant led and immigrant facing organizations are changing that with launching "NEWS FOR YOU".

With a goal of $100,000, we would produce a weekly episode with factual and accurate information that our mulitilngual communitites need to know regarding immigration changes and local news updates. The top four languages of immigrant communities in South Dakota are English, Spanish, Nepali, and Amharic, and the news will be broadcast in these languages.

Funding will be used to pay translators for their time and skillset, rental of broadcast studio, editing, and staff time curating information, developing scripts, and managing the overall program.

Knoweldge is POWER. Knowledge is AUTONOMY.
