Steve’s recovery fund

As many of you know, this year has been a whirl wind for the Neff family; a year that kicked off full of excitement and joy, lack of sleep and dirty diapers, and quickly brought along fear and anguish. In May, Steve and Kristin were blessed with their first child, a healthy baby boy, and loving everything about their new little family. Just 3 months later, their life took an unexpected turn when they received the shocking news that Steve had a brain tumor.

It all started one morning when Steve woke up with Bell’s palsy, a case in which he could not move one side of his face. After seeking medical attention and many tests later, Steve had been diagnosed with lymes disease which had ultimately caused him to develop the Bell’s palsy.

Although Steve was able to kick the Bell’s palsy with some time and antibiotics, that was not all that the doctors had determined about Steve that day. A CT scan was performed and had shown a shadow on Steve’s brain that caused some concern. With that, steve was referred to a neurologist for further testing. After an MRI, Steve received some unfortunate news...he had a brain tumor in the right frontal lobe of his brain. Although this news came as a shock, Steve and Kristin, being the people that they are, were able to see the blessing in the trial they have been faced with, thanking God that the tumor had been caught early on when it otherwise would not have been found.

With that, Steve and Kristin decided there was no time to waste and scheduled surgery. With the many thoughts, prayers, well wishes, and a skilled surgeon, Steve made it out of surgery and the tumor was fully resected. Thank God!

Although the surgery was successful, Steve was unable to move his left limbs and will be in rehab working hard to regain that movement for some time. He is coming along great and we are so very proud of him!!!! Through all of this there are 2 things we are confident of: Steve WILL overcome this and Steve and Kristin are truly blessed with an incredible support system of friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, etc.

Many have reached out and asked how they can help and we are so, so grateful for the outpouring of support and love. First and foremost, because we believe in the power of prayer and the Good Lord, we would welcome any and all prayers for Steve and his family, his recovery and healing, his doctors/therapists, and his overall well-being. Secondly, with the life saving, complex surgery and continued stay at the rehabilitation center to help him overcome the surgery, we would like to help relieve Steve and Kristin of any financial burdens and stresses during this terribly difficult time.

Again, we would like to thank you for all of the kind gestures, visits, love, prayers, and support. We deeply and sincerely appreciate any and all the ways you choose to help Steve and Kristin during this season of life. It is comforting to know we have so many walking along side of us through all of this.
