Hi! My name is Layla and I’m a 14-year-old 9th-grade student who’s passionate about medicine, leadership, and pushing myself academically.
I’ve been invited to attend the Advanced Medicine & Health Care program through NYLF at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. from July 5–14, 2026. I’m fundraising to cover tuition and travel so I can earn this opportunity and expand my knowledge in a field I’m genuinely excited about.
This year, I’ve worked hard to strengthen my academic profile. After my first semester of 9th grade, I earned a 4.0 GPA (4.36 weighted), and I’m taking all available Honors/AP coursework. I’ve intentionally taken on a heavier load this year, including two math classes in parallel (Honors Geometry and dual credit College Algebra). I’m earning college credits now through dual credit, with the goal of finishing an associate degree by high school graduation.
Outside of academics, I’m committed to being well-rounded through leadership, discipline, and service. I’m currently a Chief Master Sergeant in Civil Air Patrol, and I’m working toward the Spaatz Award. It’s earned by less than 0.5% of cadets, so it’s a long-term goal I’m taking seriously. I also train competitively in gymnastics, and one of my long-term goals is to earn an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy and join their gymnastics team.
A lot of people want to be part of someone’s success story. I know I’m still early in mine, but I’m working hard, staying focused, and taking every opportunity I can to learn and grow. Thank you for supporting my education and my future. Even sharing my fundraiser helps more than you know.
