Alan Collinge, founder of the grassroots group StudentLoanJustice.Org, is hoping to raise enough to acquire a vehicle suitable for travelling the country over the next couple of years in a nationwide campaign to compel Congress to both return bankruptcy protections to student loans, and cancel all federally owned student loans by executive order. Data is showing the federal government alongside the private sector, actually profits from defaulted student loans.
I know that is a lot to take in, but not when we consider the original intention of the student loan program rolled out in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson was zero interest loans; not the shackling of students with life-long debt. Since the inception of the program, the student loan system has become the crime scene of serious corruption.
Despite the stories of persons who do pay them off, there are now more people over the age of 50, who took them out decades ago; in debt- than is the total debt of persons under the age of 35. https://link.medium.com/AHO9nCl3nxb
These loans are not car loans. The interest is structured so that it compounds many times over the cost of the original principal. In other words, these debts are being designed to go with people to their graves.
Also, I have already begun to help organize by meeting with government representatives and raising money to get the Wisconsin State Chapter off the ground.
Honest hard working people who are developing themselves for the betterment of society, are being exploited and snared worldwide. This is already multi generational and it needs to be stopped or at least reformed.
