Becky's Battle

Becky is an amazing nurse and coworker who has worked at Jewish Hospital for over 20 years, she currently works on 7/8 Heart and Lung, an intermediate cardiac unit. If you work at Jewish I'm sure you know Becky, she is very much loved throughout the organization. Unfortunately, she has been in the hospital since the first week of September battling COVID where she was on ECMO for over 2 months and also had to have a tracheostomy along with lots of other medical interventions and procedures. Becky is still requiring ICU care and has a long road to recovery including intense physical therapy that will be needed once her lungs are stronger.

During the time in which Becky was hospitalized her sister and best friend Bev passed away from COVID. Becky was unable to be there and still has not had time to grieve this tragedy as she is still battling daily to get home to her family. She is a mother of Alex and Gabby, mother-in-law to Alisha, dog mom of Lucy and very close to her mother JoAnne.

With everything Becky has been battling for almost 4 months now she has kept her amazing personality, smile and ability to somehow still be selfless. Everyone continues to ask how they can help and honestly one of Becky's biggest concerns is the financial burden she feels this is causing her family and what she will have left to go back to at the end of this. Yet, if you know Becky the last thing she would want is to put people out by asking for help. But anything you can give would be a big help and one less thing that she would have to worry about.
