NO TEAMMATE LEFT BEHIND: IN MEMORY OF NAKITA

On August 14th, 2023, Nakita "Nikki" Breland and her 3 children were driving home when they were hit by a drunk driver. In an attempt to avoid being hit and to also shield her kids from the impending impact, Nakita swerved right and was hit head-on. It is our deepest regret to share that our beloved sister and friend Nakita did not survive this accident. Heaven gained an angel, but we, on earth, lost one!

Her children, Kayla (20 years old), Peyton (9 years old), and Preston (5 years old) all survived. Peyton and Preston are still recovering in the pediatric ICU while Kayla has been discharged. Nakita was a visionary who had huge dreams, all of which included the life she desired to give to her beautiful children. She wanted to give them the world and so much more. Though we mourn this devastating loss, we rejoice in knowing that her legacy will live on through her children.

Nakita was a woman of great faith in God, who Loved the Lord with all of her heart and trusted him in all of her dealings. She believed in the power of goal setting and positive affirmations and the first line of her daily affirmation read: "I am more than a conqueror ~ Romans 8:37". She worked diligently and faithfully daily to give her children the best she had to offer and aspired to be a woman who impacted the lives of everyone she encountered.

She was an outstanding mother, sister, friend, business partner and human becoming; always seeking to advocate for the less fortunate. She was a social worker, a counselor and an entrepreneur in The Story Maker's family. She had a smile that lit up every room she entered and her resilience inspired those who knew her to live without regret while trusting that God will always make a way.

To commemorate her life, we are determined to ensure that the split second before the collision does not become a dominant memory in the lives of her 3 beautiful kids, one that leads to pain and difficulties in life as a result of her passing. Rather we want the life that Nakita lived to be a catalyst that inspires her kids to become more than conquerors like she was. We want them to do so by utilizing the life lessons of faith and perseverance that she had taught them but also the goodwill and resources of the TSM family who meant so much to their mother and were part of their mother's growth process.

As a result, we ask that you donate freely to the family and in particular to the children. All proceeds will be recorded and presented to the family on behalf of the entire "The Story Makers" (TSM) Family. Her family appreciates all of the love and support they have already received. Please continue to keep them all, especially Kayla, Payton, and Preston in your prayers.
