In July, Scout was diagnosed with breast cancer. Still reeling from the news, her medical team jumped right in to start treatment. The plan is six rounds of chemo, with surgery in late November/early December.
While it's only been a few short months since diagnosis, the medical bills are already rolling in. One infusion cost $100,000! Scout and Robin have insurance, but it only covers a portion of these huge bills. In addition, Scout's ability to work has been limited. Surgery is timed well to be during the holidays when the family can be together, but it also means months of not working at all during recovery.
This is where community matters. Our casseroles and pitching in to watch the kids are a huge help - and the other thing we can do is take the financial worry off their shoulders. Medical bills need to be paid - and especially during treatment, ends need to meet.
