Scotty Guffeys heart is dying

Donation protected
"Help I cant See! Help! Help I cant feel my legs!"-is what I heard as i rounded the corner to Scottys room. Scotty was on his bed, hunched over his guitar vomiting green chunky bile inbetween each scream for help. We rushed him to Flagler hospital where they life flighted him to Shands in Gainsville Fl. Scotty flat-lined during the flight but was resuscitated by defibrillation and rushed into emergency open heart surgery. Scottys Acending Thoracic Aorta was falling apart.
Scotty is 36 and has Familial Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm & Dissection Syndrome (FTAAD). It's the same uncurable disease that paralized and eventually killed his father, Ken Guffey, at age 47, Scottys junior year of high school. FTAAD is a genentic mutation in the ACTA 2 gene which causes the aorta to dissect itself/shread . The only treatment for this disease is major surgery. Scottys Descending Aorta now must be replaced.
The Descending Thoracic Aorta starts with the last branch vessel off the Aortic Arch and ends at the first branch of the Abdominal Aorta. It has many branches that supply blood to the spinal cord  making this surgery a high risk for stroke and/or paralysis.
On June 14 2016 Scotty will undergo one more urgent open heart surgery to replace his Descending Aorta before it bursts. It has now dilated over 5 cm. The procedure will involve an incision from his naval to his spine, stopping his heart and replacing his aorta with artificial tubing. This will be Scotty's fourth heart surgery.   He will be hospitized and unable to work for at least 6 months. He has already not worked for weeks and has no way to pay his rent, utilities, food, phone ect..  He is in dire straits.  We not only ask for your help and support for a bestfriend but we ask for your prayers. Please donate what you can and share, anything will help. Thank for listening
