Those who know Scotty know his dog Fred and his job are his world. Unfortunately, both Scotty's and Fred's world have ben forever altered.
Scotty suffered a series of TIA's (mini strokes) while working and was hospitalized. Fred was being cared for by a friend and suddenly lost all ability to walk. The friends caring for Fred could no longer take care of him and Fred was placed in the care of his Veterinarian who has indicated that Fred will never again be able to walk and will require an assistive device to move about. Thus far, Fred's care has exceeded $3,000. and he still needs physical therapy, laser therapy and the assistive device. This situation is especially difficult because Scotty lives on the second floor of a building with no elevator so Scotty (himself) will have to learn to navigate the stairs but it's unlikely Fred will be able to do this without Scotty's help.
While Scotty has health insurance, the copays are costly. He will need rehabilitation therapy for an undetermined amount of time. Fred not only needs additional veterinary care, he needs Scotty to hire someone who is able to carry him down the stairs to go outside as Scotty is himself learning to safely navigate.
Monies raised will be used to assist with copays along with Fred's care and rehabilitation. If someone is in the Tamarac/Nob Hill area and is willing and/or able to assist with dog walking or knows of someone in the area who can assist, this would be amazing.
Scotty was discharged from in-patient rehab today and is hoping he can bring Fred home soon!
