Scotty Montana, born Scott Stuart Grotberg, is known for many things. He's most notably known as a musician, lighting up the stage with the joy from playing his harmonica, and most recently, as someone with non-small cell lung cancer – at stage four.

The nightmare began on August 12th with a tumor that, in the space of a month and a half, ate completely through the bone in his upper arm. An emergency surgery led to twelve days in the hospital to recover and physical therapy at home. This put off any radiation he could receive until it healed, which led to the discovery of a second spot in his back. With rounds of daily radiation and complications in recovery, it’s been a struggle to get by.
Chemo and immunotherapy has just begun for Scotty, starting on October 31st, 2019. The doctors are optimistic; we are trying to be too. But cancer this advanced and this aggressive requires quick and just as aggressive treatment, so we’re reaching out for help from anyone who can spare it.

Friends and family know him as someone who would give the shirt off his back for others and has done so in the past. He’s worked as a volunteer with disabled young people and continues to look out for them. He has also been a mentor to many of the younger generation, giving away instruments whenever he could to encourage their love of music. He's proud to have had the opportunity to play on stage with well-known musicians like Box Car Willie, Jerry Jeff Walker, and even Michael Martin Murphy, known for the hit "Wildfire". He continues to hope he will return to the stage once more.
As many things as he’s known as, we want to add cancer survivor to that list. This GoFundMe is intended solely for the use of his living costs – as he’s unable to work – and his medical bills. Please take a moment and, if you’re able, consider lending him a hand as he’s lent many others.
