My dad went to St. Louis for major back surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, hoping to walk again without a walker. Unfortunately, the seven-hour surgery led to serious complications, including a bowel perforation that required emergency surgery. He went septic and ended up in the ICU, making his recovery much longer and more difficult than expected. The medical bills are going to be extremely high, and he will be unable to work for a much longer period than we had planned for.
Right now, as he is still currently in the ICU struggling with severe infection, along with two major surgeries to recover from, he needs support with medical bills and covering his regular expenses during this extended recovery. The ICU stay is especially expensive, and we hadn’t anticipated these extra costs when he went in for surgery. The funds will help pay for his medical care, as well as bills and living expenses while he’s unable to work. My family and I just want to ensure he is well taken care of and has all the resources he needs to make a full recovery, without putting more stress on his body from the burden of additional financial expenses.
I know my dad might be shocked and upset with me for sharing this and asking for help on his behalf, but his health and wellbeing are what matter more than anything else at this point. With my family living over four hours away, we can’t always be there to help every day. Your support will help make sure he has groceries, help around the house, rides to doctor appointments, and that his monthly bills are covered so he doesn’t have to worry. Anything you can give would be a true blessing.
