Scott Safranski (aka "Dad"/"Papa") has dedicated his life to many things. Through Scouting, his church, and numerous community groups he has always given his time, compassion and knowledge to others. One such area where he has made a huge impact on the lives of countless educators, administrators and students is his career. This year that part of his life will be coming to an end with his retirement.
Scott's love of sailing, boating, the outdoors, and his home state of Wisconsin is a surprise to no one who has spoken with him for more than 15-20 seconds.
As he retires, we need to keep him busy. His new home in Holmen, WI is minutes from the Mississippi River, Lake Onalaska, and many other beautiful waterways to explore. We would like to collect monetary gifts to purchase him a canoe (yes, we looked into masted vessels, but the logistics were a bit daunting).
As he spends his retirement with his wife, children, and grandchildren, we hope this gesture will help him to always remember those with whom he spent so many years working as a colleague, and instilling his knowledge and wisdom.
Please Keep this a Surprise!
We set the goal at $1500, but we'll use whatever we raise by April 20th to make the decision on which canoe to purchase. Additionally we'll get Scott some accessories such as oars, a life vest, possibly custom paint to match the HMS Bounty.
UPDATE: APRIL 20:
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated! We've exceeded the goal which is wonderful!
If you'd still like to donate, please feel free, the April 20th date was fairly arbitrary, and we're looking into options for the canoe, but plan to present Scott with a paddle (and let him know about the plans/campaign) during his retirement party. We'll make a decision/purchase in the upcoming weeks and have some great options, as well as accessories, in mind.
