Scott Peterson's Fund Raiser
Hello, my name is Scott Peterson and I am a trash/recycling picker for several towns. August 4, 2015 was not a typical New England rainstorm with tornado warnings in the forecast I still had a job to do, your trash/recycling had to be picked up. Soaking wet, house after house on Hadley Road in Pepperell, I jumped back onto the truck, my foot slipped and instantly I was being pulled into the hopper. Somehow I managed to reach the gear but it was too late, three toes and several tendons and ligaments were severed.
Emergency crews were on the scene within minutes as Life Flight was dispatched and had to land as close to the accident as possible, my life was on the line. My wife received a call that I was being flown to the closet trauma center. There was no time to spare, the trauma physician decided to operate in the emergency room. "This is no doubtly going to change your life Mr. Peterson" he said as he tried to repair my toes. " You are a very lucky person, this could of ended in a different manner." All I could do is think about my family and how this is going to impact all of us.
My wife was in a serious accident causing her to be disabled, leaving me to be the sole provider for our family of six. This is no doubt going to be a burden, as I will have to learn basic life skills again such as balance, standing and walking without assistance. There will be unknown amounts of physical therapy and multiple surgeries in the future. Although I have lost threes toes and several tendons and ligaments, I am VERY FORUNATE and BEYOND GRATEFUL to still be here.
This page is set up to help my family and I with everyday living expenses that will still occur despite this severe unfornate event. I am reaching out and asking for your help as we do not know what the current future will bring us.
