Dear Friends & Family …
Scott Paine is a loving husband to his wife Andrea, dedicated father to their nine-year-old daughter Macy, and friend to many. Unfortunately, he was struck with a rare virus that caused swelling of his brain as well as other side effects. The impact was immediate and debilitating.
Scott was the sole income provider for his family and now has been out of work for almost two months. Their family has good medical insurance, but even so, the medical costs are significant and to some extent still unknown. Andrea, has spent the past two months at the hospital, navigating the medical and insurance world, trying to ensure that Scott has received the best care and that the best decisions are being made on his behalf.
The journey remains far from over. Scott has healed tremendously. Where he initially didn’t even recognize those most important to him, he is now able to carry on a conversation and is regaining movement. He still has a long way to go – there are still many memory lapses, stages of confusion, difficulty performing daily tasks and physical pain. This will require patience, rest, countless hours of therapy and for the swelling on his brain to significantly decrease. There is a strong hope for a full recovery but this will take months if not a year.
Your prayers, love and support have been immense. It is times like this that we all really appreciate true friends, family and our support systems. The Paine Family has been overwhelmed and humbled by the support of their family and our friends. To reach out with this need, is difficult, but necessary. There are many ways to help – care giving, love, financial, and of course with prayer. Please know that every way you support their family is truly and deeply appreciated. Their friends and family are setting a goal to raise enough money to cover at least a portion of Scott’s medical costs and to lessen the financial changes the Paine family is facing.
