Scott Marksbury Memorial Fund

This past week we lost a very dear friend, Scott Marksbury. Scott is best remembered for how he loved his wife, Megan, and two daughters, Margo (5) and Elsa (2). Whenever asked about his girls, Scott would be quick to smile and pleased to share about his daughters - whether it be little Margo getting a speaking part in the Church's Christmas play or asking him to stop reading her his Tort's book as a bed time story, and his baby Elsa becoming a sweet girl with an attitude not afraid to ask for Daddy's kisses.

Scott also had immense pride and love for his wife. Megan, a stay at home mom, basically made everyone at school jealous, because Scott would be in the school's cafeteria with a culinary dish that Megan made for him.

Scott was a hard worker and good man. If there was a pending work deadline or important research project, you'd be sure to count on Scott to be working well into the night and during the weekends. He was recognized for his insight and collaborative nature. This ebbed into his relationships with his law school cohorts. Friends could always reach Scott for help and he would practically give expert advice or play devil's advocate. He nearly always sat near his friends and if you sat close by you certainly would have heard their quick banter or his snarky replies. Scott loved being with his friends and sharing a beer, he loved to sing and karaoke and used his guitar and piano skills to worship in church, and he loved to laugh.

Scott was a person who really focused on meticulous details, almost to the point of perfection, from the way he took notes, organized writing assignments to the way he dressed. His outlines were flawless, pretty much similar to his perfectly matched tie, dress pants and shirt, to the pin-stripes. I even told Scott that he was one of the sharpest dressers I'd ever known. Scott laughed and thanked me for noticing his "efforts"!

There is no doubt that Scott loved his family, wanted to finish law school, and be the best friend he could be. We will miss seeing him be the very last person to get to class, and we will miss having such a great guy around.  We had gone through so much over three years together and thought that we would graduate with Scott in May and are deeply saddened that we won't see Scott walk across the stage at graduation. However, we know that we will all be thinking of him this May 23rd.

His family and close friends are comforted that Scott is with our sovereign Lord and is now at peace. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones." - Psalm 116:15.

In sharing your love for Scott's family, please donate what you can or give words of comfort. Scott's family would love to see any pictures you may have or read any special moments that remind you of Scott.
