Scottish Huntington’s Assocation

Huntington's disease is a rare, inherited disease that causes the progressive breakdown (degeneration) of nerve cells in the brain. Huntington's disease has a wide impact on a person's functional abilities and usually results in movement, thinking (cognitive) and psychiatric disorders.

Involuntary jerking or writhing movements (chorea)
Muscle problems, such as rigidity or muscle contracture (dystonia)
Difficulty with speech or swallowing.

My Dad suffered Huntington’s Disease and lost his fight in 2013.

On September 2022 I made an appointment with a genetics councillor. I had to attend monthly counselling.

In January 2023 I got my blood test taken and sent away. It take 3-4 weeks for results to come back.

on Monday 13th February I unfortunately got a positive result showing I would develop the disease.

On 6th October 2023 we are attempting

National Three Peaks Challenge!

3 tallest mountains in UK

Benn Nevis - 4413 ft

Scafell Pike - 3209 ft
