Scottie's Journey From Drawn in Dreams to Written in Pages ✍

Hello kind souls,

 

My name is Draven, and this year I took the biggest chance of a lifetime to embark on a journey from Wisconsin to the world! This year my resolution was to live my life… so that's what I did! After finding myself working 6-7 day weeks just to pay bills, working anywhere from 6-hour days to sixteen between two jobs, I realized I was working to live, not living to work. I was sick of the pressure and stress of maintaining a clean home I was in only to sleep, working till the brink of crashing my car on the way home from work, and having no time to write. So, here I am, embarking on a journey of self-discovery and life to experience the adventures I both dream and write about. So far, part of my journey has been realizing I prefer to go by my middle name, Scottie, than my old birth name Draven, having plans to change it legally within the month following my 21st birthday.

However, as the next part of my journey leads me to completing a cumulation of years of dreaming, writing, and soul-searching which intertwines the celebration of a milestone birthday. For the past seven years, I've poured my heart and soul into crafting a novel that's set in the picturesque Tourist town of Whitefish, Montana. Yet, despite my fervent efforts, circumstances and fate have kept me from setting foot in and experiencing the place that has become the heartbeat of my literary world, the place that has inspired countless pages and rewrites of my manuscript. However, I have learned its all for purpose for fate only knows what’s in store! Since the start of my journey, I’ve made a solemn vow to make this dream a reality.

As I turn 21, instead of hitting the bars and clubs like many others my age, I have a different kind of celebration in mind—one that's deeply personal as well as profoundly meaningful to me and, I hope, to you as well. For my 21st, I seek to immerse myself in the serene beauty of Whitefish, where I hope to find inspiration around every corner to breathe life into my literary creation. I also plan to excitingly take the photo which readers will recognize me as, a feat I plan to take on with my photography degree!

But this journey is about more than just marking another year, having another celebration— it's about embarking on a voyage of discovery, exploration, and inspiration, about seizing the opportunity to explore the vast landscapes and vibrant communities that dot the western United States on my way there!

Starting from my humble beginnings in Wisconsin, where the seed of my dreams rooted, I ventured to Arizona with the not so simple yet profound, terrifying goal of leaving everything I knew to hike the Grand Canyon on new year’s and to continue exploring the wonders of the West Coast. With nothing but the last of my savings, I embraced a nomadic lifestyle, living out of my car and soaking in the splendor of nature at every turn despite my fear of change!

In Arizona, fate led me to a job at a studio where I had the privilege of capturing thousands of children and staff members smiles—precious moments frozen in time for yearbooks and delighted parents. And with this job, came hearing stories which have further inspired my writing in many ways more than one! However, as the season draws to a close, I find myself facing the end of this chapter in my journey.

Now, as I stand at the threshold of my 21st year, I'm reaching out to you, dear friends, and fellow dreamers, for support. Your generous contribution to my GoFundMe campaign will not only help me fulfill probably my biggest dream of finally experiencing Whitefish but Every dollar donated brings me one step closer to seeing my dreams printed in words and sharing my passion with the world, playing a crucial role in achieving my publishing goal of January 2025. I am asking for $400 for food and gas, however every dollar extra earned that I receive will go towards a name change to free myself of the chains which bind my past to my present.

 

As I traverse from Arizona to Montana and beyond, I'll be conducting vital research for not only my current Novel with plans to become a Trilogy, but future novels as well, sculpting the settings and characters to captivate readers for generations to come. You can bet your silver nickel I hope to make my Novel Universe as popular and largely recognized as Harry Potter!!

From breathtaking landscapes to chance encounters with fellow travelers, you'll be right there with me, sharing in the joys and triumphs of this incredible journey.

It's worth mentioning that living out of my car, and embracing a nomadic lifestyle is what is allowing me to fully immerse myself in the beauty of the natural world. While I recently lost my job capturing images of children for yearbooks, I see this as a temporary setback—a mere pause in my quest to pursue my passions and dreams until I can share my novel with the world.
