I’m usually never the type to ask for a hand out, that’s just how my daddy raised me

but as I am dealing with the task of laying him to rest i realize that I am unable to do it on my own.

My dad (Scottie Mayes) was in a motorcycle accident on the 18th of August, he suffered a major brain bleed, had a broken back, 8 different facial fractures, broken ribs & multiple other injuries. Due to his injuries he had to undergo multiple surgeries & was in trauma ICU at Baptist for 2 weeks he woke up and was taken off the ventilator August 30th and On September 1st he was transferred from ICU to the Neuro floor, I thought everything was getting better he was starting to move and trying to talk again. On Sep 18th I received a call that I will never forget. The Dr who called said that my dad was found in his room without a pulse, he was able to be brought back after 20 minutes of CPR and was sent back to ICU where he remained unresponsive for 2 days. This was due to a blood clot that came from his leg to his heart. Despite the fact that he was bedridden, the hospital did not have him on blood thinners to prevent blood clots my family and I were not aware of this until after

Unfortunately there was nothing else that could be done and I had to make the most difficult decision of my life to take him off of life support on Sep 20th.

this accident was so unexpected there were no arrangements and due to my father not having a will i don’t have the funds to afford a proper funeral.

He is a veteran but unfortunately the VA will not cover funeral costs.

My daddy has always been a giving man he gave to our country, me, my children, loved ones and anyone else that he could even after his death he continued to give as a organ donor he’s was able to save 3 life’s and give sight to another.

So I ask if you are able please help me to give him his proper resting & if you are not please just pray for my family in this difficult time.
