My parents are the strongest people I know. They have been faced with so many hardships in their lifetime and continue to keep a positive mindset. They have given all three of their children the best quality of life possible, and I aspire to be half the parents they are someday.
Yesterday, they were faced with one of the worst tragedies a parent could ever imagine: losing a child. They received a call around 1:30 a.m. that my severely Autistic brother Scott had been missing from his group home located in San Bruno, CA. This was not out of the norm, Scott found ways to escape even with maximum security. He attempted to run away, and his route was towards my parents house in Redwood City, CA. He absolutely loved his family and wanted to be around us as much as possible.
His autism impaired his judgment and street smarts, and unfortunately he decided to run on a dark and busy road, Skyline Blvd, to reach Highway 280 on his quest home. He was struck by a vehicle and passed away and the driver fled the scene.
This situation has been so incredibly sudden and unexpected. Scott was only 27 years old, but he lived those 27 years to the fullest. He had a great sense of humor, a loving personality and touched many peoples lives. The simplest things made him happy, and he was always so happy.

He was a Disney fanatic and loved to dress up for Halloween. He was constantly going on Disneyland trips with his group home, and Tahoe outings with our family. His absolute favorite past time was watching movies, around Christmas time I would have to help my mom wrap the endless amount of movies he was being gifted. He had such an amazing personality, he could light up a room. Everyone that came in contact with Scotty recognized his beautiful soul.
He taught us so many valuable life lessons, and taught us to see the world from a different perspective. I can thank him for teaching me how to be patient, kind, understanding and empathetic.
I created this page in honor of my brother Scott. If he touched your life personally or his story did and you are in the position to donate I would be so appreciative, any dollar amount helps. I am trying to alleviate as much stress as possible off of my parents during this tough time.
Unfortunately with a situation like this, my parents are faced with a mountain of expenses to cover. Donations will help with cremation costs, his memorial service, and all other associated costs. We are hoping to honor his life the way he would've wanted us to and this GoFundMe page will help us do just that.
RIP Scott Glasner. You will be forever missed.
