Hi everybody. My name is Scott Walker and I’m 31 years old  Thank you for taking the time to read this. It has taken me a a good month or so to come up with the courage to this. I have been advised by so many people and charities to do this. So have swallowed my pride and am not afraid to admit I need some help financially. Here’s why. In January I noticed a small lump above my gum and in my right cheek. I had little pain and just thought it was an abscess. I am terrified of the dentist so ignored it. Of course it goes without saying it grew bigger and more painful. As I thought an abscess would. I finally made it to the dentist who told me they don’t think it’s an abscess and I need to be referred to the maxillofacial department in Eastbourne dgh. Whilst waiting for my appointment which took weeks. It got more and more painful. After several a&e visits and being given morphine for the pain. My appointment arrived. Over the next few weeks I had CT scans. MRI scans, ultrasounds etc. To which results came back not great. A biopsy was arranged and I had the op a week or so later. The day after the biopsy my fiancée went into labour just over 3 weeks early which I assume was through stress. The next day our baby was born. 3 weeks premature but healthy. 3 days later I got a call to ask me to come into the hospital for a “chat”. This was not the call I was looking forward to. I was diagnosed with a high grade bone sarcoma in my right maxilla grade 3 cancer. It’s a very aggressive and rare cancer and needed to be treated ASAP. Less than 30 people a year are diagnosed with this type of cancer and majority of them have it in their leg. I have it in my face. I have had to give up work and start treatment. This is why I need your help. The financial stress is incredible and somewhat damaging health wise. There is no help for young people with cancer. I have had the fortune of having some help from a lovely small local charity. Who I can’t tell you how grateful I am for the help. I am on SSP from work and benefits take 3 months at least to sort out. Which is no help when you have bills and young children to supply for. If it was just me id plod along and fight this without a penny to my name but as a father who is ill and can’t provide for his family is very depressing. I would literally appreciate every penny raised through this I can’t tell you how thankful I will be. I have a lot of treatment before I get any better and I can’t wait. I would also love to be able to take my beautiful wife to be and children away for a well deserved break when it’s all over. So please help in any way you can. I understand if you can’t or don’t want to. As I do feel like this is begging. Which is why it’s taken me this long to do it. But I will thank you in advance if you can donate anything. It’s a big help and I will always be grateful and give back in return to those who ever need help in a similar situation.
