Scott Turner Recovery Fund

As some of you may or may not know, Scott is currently in the ICU at St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver. I’ve created this page to give one source of information and updates, while hoping to also raise some funds to help with the costs of having a loved one in hospital out of the territory.

Scott suddenly became ill with a fever and confusion while working in camp last Tuesday afternoon. He was quickly medevac’d to Whitehorse where he was found to have meningitis and also an infection in his blood. There were some other abnormalities on his blood work indicating some liver, kidney, and  heart damage. Treatment was started and he was then medevac’d down to St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver on Wednesday for further investigation and treatment. He is currently stable, but is intubated and sedated (being kept in a coma). His organs seem to be recovering, but he still has a long hard battle ahead of him. Unfortunately there have been some further complications of his illness and he has suffered from multiple strokes. The extent of the strokes won’t be known until Scott wakes up. However there is likely to be a fair amount of rehab and recovery after that happens.

Although Scott’s medical expenses are covered by health care, there are still many expenses that are not. Anne is currently in Vancouver to be with Scott during this difficult time and will be staying to support him while he recovers. If you’re reading this and you have the means to help a little, I know it would mean the world to Anne and Scott to have one less thing to worry about, and to let them focus on Scott’s recovery.
