Scott Tixier Teaches Jazz Violin - 23 video courses
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Scott Tixier, an affiliate Grammy-winning jazz violinist and educator. I’ve dedicated my life to improvisation through my violin and teaching for 2 decades I Masterclasses at places like Yale University, Princeton and jazz camps in the south of France, and later continued in New York City for 15 years at institutions like the Brooklyn Conservatory, the Brooklyn Music School, and public school programs and for the past six years at the University Of North Texas where I am now Associate Professor with tenure mentoring students at all levels.
What I’m Raising Funds For:
I’m creating the first comprehensive online masterclass series for jazz strings, designed specifically for violin, viola, and cello players. Unlike other masterclasses that focus on classical music, this series will provide an accessible and engaging approach to learning jazz strings and beyond, improvisation in any style. My goal is to fill a gap in online resources and inspire string players to explore the rich world of improvisation

Why This Matters:
Jazz strings remain an underserved area in music education. To address this, I’ve written Source Material for Jazz String Improvisation, a book that outlines the fundamentals of jazz strings and provides practical exercises. Now, I want to take this knowledge further by producing a series of 23 professional videos, each 6–8 minutes long, that will accompany the book. These videos will make learning jazz strings more dynamic, practical, and enjoyable.
Why I Need Your Support:
Creating this series requires professional production, editing, and resources to ensure it’s of the highest quality. Your contribution will help me share this invaluable knowledge with musicians worldwide and give string players a new way to connect with improvisation and develop their own voices.
